As a firearms barrister Nigel Power KC has a wealth of experience acting for those charged with possession of and use of firearms. As well as being highly recommended for gangland murders involving firearms, Nigel has appeared in allegations of conspiracy to supply and use firearms, including those with an international element.

Nigel also has significant experience of cases that involve hand grenades. He successfully represented Michael O’Rourke in the first case involving grenades in the North of England. Mr O’Rourke was acquitted of attempted murder even though his DNA was on the firing pin of a grenade which was found in the gutter outside the house where the grenade was detonated.

Nigel has particular knowledge and expertise in the mechanisms and other technical details relating to grenades and firearms and their date of provenance and place of manufacture, often important in conspiracies where the police try to link defendants to more than one event through links between the appliances allegedly used.

Nigel has appeared in a number of firearms cases, many of which had national press coverage. He represented Simon Ignacio who was charged with the “Kenny Dalglish Grenade Case” and Neil Copplestone in a case involving the importation of more than 70 Glock and other handguns from the USA.

Chambers and Partners 2014, the world’s leading directory for lawyers, said of Nigel that: “He is highly regarded for his expertise on complex and high-profile cases such as gangland murders.”
